A Brief Report of the Inauguration of CLIP Program at CSI girls boarding home, Chickamagalur

Introduction :
Long waited dream of CSI Chickmagalore girls boarding home (P No 20062) of having digital education came to true on 23rd of March when the Computer literacy  implementation programme(CLIP) was inaugurated by Mr. E. Anil Kumar Charles, Director of CSIBCC, in the presence of Project Coordinator, Mr. Reginold Soans, local Paster, eminent members of the society, well-wishers and also Mr. Prashanth Solomon, Associate Director and Ms. Sowmini,Programme Executive from CSIBCC. This CLIP program was financially supported by NBCF, California, USA. 

The primary objective of this programme is to enable the children to learn computer skills with a focus on enriching their lives and build capacities for better future for the girl children.

The Programme:
The programme started at 2:30 PM and the opening prayer was led by Rev. Jacob, Presbyter of CSI St Andrews Church, Chickamagalur. Mr. Reginold Soans, Project Co-Ordinator from the Karnataka Southern Diocese welcomed the guests consisting of Church and community members and the children of the project. A prayer song was sung by the children and the staff of the project. Then the pastor shared the word of God from Psalms 117 and the message was an encouragement to all those who were present.

 Mr. Anil Kumar Charles, Director of CSIBCC Inaugurated the new computers with a word of prayer and by cutting the ribbons. It was also nice to hear a brief report from the child care worker Mrs.Manoranjini  about the history of the project, about all who served in the project and about the performance of the children with some specific educational achievements.The performance of the  Children of the project has been appreciated by all who had gathered for the programme as their contribution to the local Church and the project has been hailed as exceptional.

Children in the project:

There are 43 children in the project, out of that school going are 31 children, 6 children are in PUC,  2 children are doing the paramedical course, 1 child is pursuing  GNM and 1 child is pursuing computer training.

The details are as follows:

Children completed GNM: 14 children, Paramedical: 15 children, JOC Training: 6, ANM Nursing: 5, BBM:1, Tailoring: 8 and Nurse- Aid: 20  

Few Thoughts Shared by the  Chief Guest: Mr. Anil Kumar Charles, Director CSIBCC:

He greeted all the children, staff, pastors and the members who attended this program.He appreciated the excellent report and encouraged the project staff to continue to work with commitment and set a goal and vision to succeed. He also quoted from scriptures Mt 18:1 -5  and Psalms 34: 8 verse- ‘ that all your desires of your heart will be fulfilled’and he said to the Children-‘ You are Precious and Great in the kingdom of Heaven’. 

After the speech of the chief guest, a group song was sung and few thoughts were shared by Mr. Prashanth Solomon, Associate Director. He highlighted the situation of girl children in India and focussed on the need for the various interventions to better their situation and appreciated the contribution of the project.

After this Ms. Sowmini, Programme Executive shared about the development and achievement of the project children, the involvement of the children in every activity, and share about 4 Ts’ Time, Treasure, Talent and Truth and encouraged the children and the staff to continue to do well.

And finally, Mrs. Manoranjini thanked the donors from NBCF, California, USA for the CLIP Programme. And thanked the Director and the Team of CSIBCC, Bishop and the Diocesan Officers, Church Pastor and leaders who were the backbone for the development of the project. The program came to an end with closing prayer by Rev. Sudarshan and Benediction by Rev Jacob. Tea and snacks were arranged for all the participants.
