Two days workshop on Capacity Building for Child Care Workers of EMS supported Projects in Karnataka Region was organised in CSI Boys Boarding Home at Udupi on 17th and 18th of April 2018. There were 8 child care workers participated in this workshop.
The main purpose of the workshop:
To understand programme Implementation.
To emphasis on stewardship in finance and program management.
To study and learn about new trends/new perspectives in the workshop.
To enable and empower and to identify the needs of the children in the project.
To develop qualitative and quantitative work results oriented.
Providing opportunities for the children in identifying their talents and developing their leadership skills.
The Program was started with a welcome note by Mr. Prashanth Solomon and the morning devotion was led by Rev. Steevan Sarvothama. After Coffee break the session started with introduction about the child care workers and expectations of the workshop, purpose and the emerging trends and new perspectives of the workshop. Then Ms.Sowmini (Programme Executive of CSIBCC) has explained about EMS Mission and objectives and principles. After which Mr.Prashanth Solomon handled the session from 11:15 to 1:00PM on Documentation and Effective Communication. Some of the important highlights of this session.

§ Discussed on planning activity, Programme Proposal and Evaluation documents were explained to them.
After Lunch break (1:00 to 2:00 pm), Mr. Prashanth Solomon, spoke on the Programme Implementation /Result Based Approach till 4:00PM. It was an interactive session and group presentation was conducted. Some of the important highlights of this sessions were as follows:

§ 10 areas of programme Implementation – (Result Based) was also explained and the groups explained each results through activities and were presented
§ Sustainable Development Goals.

Then there was a quick tea break from 4:14PM to 4:30PM. The last session was facilitated by Ms.Sowmini on Team Building & Importance of Team work in the Project. In the beginning of the session a small group activity on team building was conducted “Constructing a Tower”. In this activity, the observer and leader were the key participants to build a tower with the help of other team members. After the activity was conducted participants shared their learnings, understanding the strengths and weakness about the team, the obstacles in team, etc.

Finally, this session was concluded with sharing a thought on teamwork that is “ministry of working together” and team work makes the “Dream work” was quoted in this session, Team work is a helping hand and understanding each other to work with cohesiveness. Two important scriptures were quoted from Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 and Ephesians 4:16 was shared and concluded the session for the day.
After their leisure time all the child care workers (from 8:00 PM to 9:00PM) had their preparation for days work.
On the second day the workshop was started with morning devotion, Rev. Yashwanth Hadddanawar shared the word of God and highlighted responsibility of Child Care worker in the child care ministry from the scriptures. With this thought the second day session started with recap. All the child care workers shared in recap about days’ work and there was a coffee break from 10:30 to 10:45.

From 12:00 to 1:00 PM the session was on Connecting with children shared by Ms.Sowmini, some of the key points were highlighted in the Session:
After lunch break, from 2.00 PM onwards Mr. Prashanth Solomon took session on Resource Mobilization.

Last session was on “Child Protection Policy” In this session Ms. Sowmini conducted quiz type it was an interactive session and all the participants involved in this session.

§ The EMS Staff developed leadership Qualities
§ The workshop has created a impact for the staff in overall development
§ The Emerging trends, programs, capacitated the staff and they would be practicing the same in their field work.
§ As a result the above mentioned points will support to monitor project on the baseline workshop was conducted.
§ The impact of the workshop can help the project in developing better programme implementation and project management.
§ This workshop was an eye opening to build a new team and know each others challenges and understand and grow togetherness.
§ The workshop also created a platform to understand the SWOT analysis of each project.
§ The outcome of this workshop to work with integrity as team and adhere to the Child Protection Policy.
The workshop was concluded with collective feedback from participants and with a word of prayer by Rev. Yashwanth Hadavanur. The two days workshop was well organised and all the participants involved themselves in this workshop and learnt important subjects. All the participants took initiative in every part of the session and involvement, and team work was seen in this workshop.
