A meaningful Christmas celebration titled “Feugo 2018” was planned and organized by the CSI Christian union Church, Trichy-Tanjore Diocese in association with CSI Synod youth Department. This Christmas celebration was planned to reorganize the engagements of the Church with special focus on the migrant student community from the Annamalai University located in Chidambaram. More than 200 migrant students from North-East India, Kerala, Telengana, Karnataka along with a student community from Africa were present to witness this evening.
This program was organized to strengthen the relationship between the migrant community and the Church addressing their challenges with diakonia stand point. The evening was a Christmas gathering hence the student community showcased their talents by singing, dancing and taking part in the program with great joy. This context of trust and friendship would certainly form a basis for sharing the opportunity, for them to know Jesus Christ personally and experiencing the love of God through the local congregation which is being educated on becoming a migrant-friendly congregations.
The program came to close with fellowship dinner. The next day brainstorming sessions with the congregation and the students were conducted to seek new possible ways of intervention in enhancing the quality of their time in Chidambarm. It was proposed to have a monthly intervention regularly for the benefit of migrant students and their life.
