“All Educational Professionals are the Missionaries”: Mission Enhancing Program for Educational Professionals
Chennai: ‘Education is an integral part of Mission; therefore, all educational professionals are the Missionaries’ was the focal message of the program for “Enhancing Capacities of Educational Professionals towards Missional engagements” on 18th November 2018 at St. Mary’s CSI Church, Kozhikodu.
Mr. Sheril Jose, Motivational Speaker, CSI Tholassery in Madhya Kerala Diocese has delivered a key-note address to the meeting. He has stated that as an Educational Professional, “we are called out to empower and transform others”. Therefore, all educational professionals are missionaries for the transformation. He further added that we should work with passion and we should enhance the capacities of Children to dream about the bright future and cherish and nourish them for the better world. Jesus Christ is our role model and we should follow the footsteps of Jesus Christ and dedicate ourselves for the transformational Missional engagements in our day to day educational activities, Mr. Sheril has reminded all the participants.
Rev. T.I. James, Corporate School Manger has coordinated the meeting in a fruitful way along with Board of Mission and Evangelism, Malabar Diocese. There were around 400 educational professionals have attended the meeting.
Prior to the Mission enhancing program, a Holy Communion Service was conducted at St. Mary’s English CSI Church. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Oommen George, Bishop in Kollam- Kottarakara Diocese was the celebrant and the preacher. In his preaching, Bishop highlighted that ‘Church of South India is the Missionary Church. Passion for the Mission is needed for all of us. Since it is the Mission of God, it is concerned to all, even to the whole creation. Not only this, God is always with us while we are participating the Mission of God, Bishop encouraged all participants. Then, Rev. Shoban Kumar Daniel, Mission Director in Malabar Diocese has presented about ‘Malabar Diocesan Mission-2019’ in which he advocated to the participants to actively engage and co -work with Mission Board in order to make more Missional Engagements.
Soon after the Mission Enhancing Session, there was a valedictory function regarding the Malabar Diocesan Mission Fest along with Kerala Regional Mission Enhancing Program-2018. Dr. George Itty has organized the function in well manner wherein Senior Evangelists were honored and appreciated for their commendable services rendered to the Church. Bishop Royce Manoj Victor reminded about the “Mantle of Responsibility”. We should be more responsible, transparent and accountable in doing Mission, Bishop has advised the participants.
Following to the Valedictory Function, there was a Mission Convention. Rev.Fr.Paulose Parekkara, Cor Episcopa in Arch Diocese of Syrian Orthodox Church was the preacher. Through the preaching, Episcopa highlighted the need to become a new creation in Christ. Towards the new creation, we need to put away the old self which is sinful, and we need to put on new self which spiritual in accordance with the gospel of Christ.
Kerala Regional Mission Enhancing Program along with Malabar Diocesan Mission Fest was the venue for revisit and re look in the context of Mission and it helped lot to get creative and constructive directions and guidelines to move ahead in doing Mission in the days to come.
