On January 12th 2019 commemorating the National Youth Day, CSI Synod Youth Department in association with the higher education institutions of Karnataka Northern Diocese organized a half day seminar and inter-collegiate competitions. The seminar was centered on “The Role of Youth in Nation Building”. Young people from the Karnataka Northern Diocese institutions participated in this seminar knowing the importance of National Youth Day and their role in building responsible citizenship. Mr. Girish Angadi the director for an organization called Connect was the chief guest, in his inaugural address, he brought out glimpses from the life of Vivekananda and challenged the young people to have visions beyond their goals of career. Mr. Praveen Daniel, program Executive on building local capacities for Peace, CSI-SEVA also addressed the young people on how youth can become effective peace builders in this country. Rev. Solomon Paul, Director, CSI Synod Youth Department encouraged the young people to discern the signs around them to be sensitive to the sufferings of people and also to have a vision that journeys along with the aspirations of marginalized people in the society.
In collating the voices of the young people through creative memes, essay writing competition and poster making competition was conducted respectively. Prizes were awarded to the winners. The day also marked huge processions and rallies enabling the young people to stand for the rights of those who are deprived.
All these events and activities were hosted by CSI College of Commerce, Dharwad under the able leadership of Mrs. Dr. Kamala Dhawale and the faculty, student representatives of the college. The Synod Youth Department thanks the Bishop of Karnataka Northern Diocese and the officers for this meaningful observance.
