The vacation camp for Rural and fishing community children was jointly conducted by the Department of Pastoral Concerns, Synod and the CSI Madras Diocese on 13th & 14th June, 2015 at CSI St. John’s Church Pondicherry.  More than 300 children from Semangalam, Ilavampet, Kilkoothapakkam, Poothurai, Sellancherry, Thavalakuppam, Gorimedu, Ekkiyarkuppam and Cuddalore have attended this two days camp very enthusiastically.  This was the first time that these children have attended such a Camp.  Half of the children were from neighbouring faith communities.  The officers of the Madras Diocese Rev. Paul Dayanandan, the Vice-President , Rev. Samuel Jacob, the Hon. Secretary, Mr. Selva Kumar, Hon. Treasurer along with Rev. Charles Soundararajan, the Area Chairman,  Southern Area, Rev. D.S.A. Samuel, Director, Christian Education, Madras Diocese have participated in the inaugural session and blessed the children with their prayers, greetings and encouraging words.  Rev. D.A.V. Samuel, Rev. K. James Cecil Victor-Director, Department of Pastoral Concerns took sessions on ‘Walking in Christ’s Way”.  Delegates from Scripture Union and Youth for Christ have taught new songs and morals through puppet show, skits and mime show, while St. John’s Youth have taught action songs and engaged them in group activities.  Rev. Richardson, Presbyter in-charge and Rev. Stella Richardson, Asst. Presbyter have co-ordinated the programme with the support of the local congregation.  Children were given gifts as an encouragement for their participation.
